The Nishura Team

Nishura has a British and Japanese team, with expertise that includes a buyer, a merchandiser, an art dealer, a curator, a documentary film maker, an art historian, and a marketing director. This great range of talent means we can develop tailor-made solutions for all kinds of individual, cultural and business situations, and provide powerful and original international marketing strategies.  

Keiko Uchida

Keiko moved to the UK from Tokyo in 2002. After taking an MA in Design Management, she joined MUJI as buyer and merchandiser for their Household department, while also gaining an MSc in International Business at Birkbeck College. She then worked for several European and Japanese brands, gaining expertise in Japanese and European markets, before creating Nishura, allowing her to offer her specialized business knowledge to Japanese and British clients. Keiko enjoys yoga and cooking, and also teaches the Japanese tea ceremony. 

Juliet Gonsalves

Juliet has started her career in TV production after the graduating with a degree in history. She developed and was involved in a great variety of documentary programmes. Her lead role at Nishura is specializing in sales and marketing, and she has a particular skill set understanding the new requirements of the considerable range of new clients that now come to Nishura, through diverse cultural communication. Juliet is keen on yoga (as well as finding new kinds of chocolate).  

Sandy Mallet

Sandy is an art dealer, art historian and writer, and has worked in the cultural and art sector for 25 years. For many years he was a director at Sotheby’s, before becoming a museum curator, and then started a new path as a dealer in Old Master and Modern British paintings. He is also the author of various works on art, and is a communications specialist. Sandy is also a successful artist. 

Ai Watanabe

Ai achieved an MA in sustainable design from Kingston University, and has developed a valuable expertise as a digital marketing specialist alongside her deep interest in sustainability and the environment. At Nishura she has been responsible for researching the environmental implications of our products as well as editing and maintaining the website, social networking and running media campaigns. Ai enjoys watching films, reading and cooking. 

Sophie Beavan-Vaughan

Sophie is our chief data analyst and researcher, ensuring that Nishura has an in-depth understanding of its products, customers, and its communications potential. After graduating from King’s College, London, she studied in Japan, and is a great admirer of Japanese culture. She is a successful blogger and website content creator, as well as a social media specialist, also looking after the family dachshund Otto.
